A team of Chinese scientists climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. The scientists used satellites to measure the height of the mountain, and to check the mountain´s resources.

Scientists did other research, too. They focused on the weather and wind, and they checked how deep the snow was. The information that they got will help protect the mountains and monitor glaciers.

Mount Everest is in the Himalayas, the mountains in South Asia, and the border between China and Nepal runs across Mount Everest. Both countries accept the official height of Mount Everest, which is 29,029 feet.

Chinese scientists could be the only people who will get to the top of Mount Everest this year. China and Nepal canceled spring climbing season because of the coronavirus.

Richard Wayne Penniman (December 5, 1932 – May 9, 2020), known by his stage name Little Richard, was an American recording artist, songwriter, and musician. He is one of the early creators of rock and roll music in the 1950s.

In 1951 Little Richard began his music career by making gospel and jazz influenced rhythm and blues. He did not sell many records until 1955 when he added a loud drum beat and loud Gospel-style singing and boogie-woogie piano playing. This new music would come to be known as of rock and roll. Little Richard influenced many rock and roll musicians who started after him.

In 1957, when he was at his most popular point, Little Richard quit rock and roll music. He went to Bible college and became a church preacher. He then went on to play only Gospel music for many years. He returned to playing rock and roll when he was older, and also continued playing Gospel music.

In 1986, Little Richard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was one of the first seven people to be added to the museum.

Little Richard died of  cancer on May 9, 2020 at his brother's home in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 87.

Hafþór ‘Thor’ Björnsson is a 32-year-old Icelander actor and powerlifter. In 2018, he won the World´s Strongest Man competition.

This week, he has broken the world deadlift record. Björnsson lifted 1104 pounds, and beat his rival, Eddie Hall, who lifted 1102 pounds in 2016. After the event, Björnsson was very happy and proud. He said that many people did not believe that he could break the record. However, he got a lot of support, too.

Björnsson, who is 6 feet and 9 inches tall, is a star of the popular TV series Game of Thrones, where he played Gregor ´The Mountain´ Clegane.

The couple´s spokesperson said that both Symonds and the baby are well. Johnson will probably take a short paternity leave later this year. The couple hasn´t announced the boy´s name yet. However, many people bet on Wilfred, Winston, and Alexander.

In April, Johnson was in hospital because he had COVID-19. Doctors were worried about Johnson, as he spent three days in intensive care. Johnson returned to work on Monday, and he said that he wanted to start the economy soon. However, he is worried that there could be a second coronavirus outbreak, so it is necessary to plan everything carefully.

Miután befejeztük a 8.-os tankönyvet, különféle feladatokat fogtok kapni. Igyekszem változatossá tenni az órákat.

 

Mára egy hírt hoztam, amely a koronavírussal kapcsolatos.

Scientists recorded less air pollution and more animal activity than is usual at this time of year. Images from space satellites show lower levels of nitrogen dioxide, which is a dangerous gas that pollutes the air.

Cars and farm animals make nitrogen dioxide, and now, many people stay at home because of the coronavirus. This is the reason why there is less nitrogen dioxide in the air.

Scientists recorded more than 30% less nitrogen dioxide in the area between Washington and Boston, and more than 45% less nitrogen dioxide in Madrid, Milan, Rome, and Paris.

Animals are starting to come closer to people´s homes, and they roam empty streets and waterways. People could see kangaroos in city streets in Australia, and wild goats came to the center of a town in Wales.
